Image Description

Whenever you are in a hurry and want to prepare something zelidecious but not very heavy, or you might have fancy guests coming over, include my Tuna Steak with White Radish in your menu. Also a great option for holiday feasts as starter. This dish is ready in minutes and is a pleasure to enjoy!

Ingredients for 2 servings as starter:

  • aprox. 200-250 gr. tuna steak file;
  • 1 medium long white radish (Chinese radish works very good);
  • juice from 1/2 lime or 1/4 lemon;
  • 1 tbsp. mix of white and black sesame seeds;
  • 1 tsp. sesame seeds oil;
  • salt and pepper to taste

Method:

  1. Heat a nonstick pan over high heat.
  2. Season the tuna steak with salt and pepper. Place it in the hot pan and fry on each side for 3-5 min., until a light golden crust.
  3. On a flat plate, sprinkle the tbsp of white and black sesame seeds.
  4. Take the tuna from the pan and place it on the sesame seed mix, turn it on all sides so it's covered with the sesame seeds all over.
  5. Place the tuna steak on a chopping board and leave to cool for at least 30 min. or up to 24 hours in the fridge (this part you can do in advance when you are preparing multiple dishes).
  6. Slice the tuna lenghtwise (1 cm thick).
  7. Peel the radish's skin and cut into thin sticks.
  8. On a plate, arrange a layer of white radish sticks, sprinkle salt flakes, drizzle the lime/lemon juice, add the tsp of sesame seeds oil, sprinkle some more black and white sesame seeds. Top with the tuna steak slices and drizzle some more lime juice and a few drops of sesame seeds oil.

Enjoy!
